Year of…

As I have said before, I don’t do resolutions. What I will do is set an intention for the year and I have picked mine for 2016.  For me, 2016 is the Year of Determination.

What is Determination?

“the determination of the speed of light”

Why determination?

The word came to me as I spent time in self-reflection these two weeks during my social media vacation.  As I explored it’s full meaning and read quote after quote around it (Google is a wonderful tool), it took a life of it’s own.

I have some big personal and professional goals this year.  As many of you know, I have struggled with my self-worth, willpower, and determination over the years.  This has ended me around 70 pounds overweight of you use BMI as a marker. Realistically that’s a lot to lose in a year (despite what reality TV shows depicte) and I wanted to get away from dwelling on the number on the scale.  So losing a set number is not my goal.  However, I am DETERMINED to make a dent. And even more, I am DETERMINED to really live the healthy lifestyle I should.  I have jumped on the Whole30 eating plan. I have a 10 mile race lined up for February and a 1/2 marathon in April.  All of this will take more DETERMINATION than I have ever been willing to give to myself.

I also have been working way more than is healthy.  I love my job but when the husband starts sentences like  “If I’m coming home…” And the toddler pulls the smart phone from my hand and says “Mommy play now” I knew it was bad.  So finding a balance is definitely a goal.  Even more is finding a balance between my “9-5” and my other passions including family.  This blog, the Facebook group, using and promoting Young Living, raising my 2.5 year old and not missing those previous moments, and reconnecting with my husband.  All of this is going to need DETERMINATION!

So,  now you know what my Year will be centered around. How about you?  I’d love to hear what your Year will be!
